RVBA Education Committee
The Rondout Valley Business Association formed an Education Committee in 2014 with the goal of creating a connection between our business members, the larger Rondout Valley community, and our local Rondout Valley High School. By utilizing the local talent within our community to create a more enriched experience for our students the RVBA helps to better prepare our youth for life beyond high school.
The Committee collaborates with the District Superintendent, High School Principal and School Faculty to organize programs involving local business professionals. We encourage RVBA members to get involved in our education efforts.
Mock Interviews
The RVBA Mock Interviews program is an opportunity for students to practice interviewing skills with local business leaders including feedback. A group of employers is asked to give roughly 2 hours of time on a specific day to participate in a series of mock interviewing sessions.
If you would like to participate, please contact Education Committee members Linda Bradford or Nelda Gerner (listed above). Some ongoing RVBA member participants are: Nik Gerner, Jesse Marcus, Sheryl Travers, Judy Hauser, Linda Bradford, Debbie Briggs, and Laurel Sweeney. Ask them about their experiences.
The Leadership Institute
The RVBA Leadership Institute is an elective ¼ credit program consisting of workshops to identify personality strengths, styles of leadership, career paths, leadership skills and more. This program is open to all Rondout Valley High School students.
The RVBA Education Committee works together to choose a wide range of professionals who have the expertise, experience and speaker/teaching skills to participate in this after-school course.
Ask some of our RVBA speakers about this program! Tim Sweeney, Tom Smiley, and Sara McGinty have all participated.
Networking @ Breakfast
RVBA offers to host up to six High School students at our breakfast meetings. What better way for them to hone their networking skills and hear about topics that impact the business community!
Business Education Seminars
The RVBA partners with SUNY Ulster on courses designed and presented by professional educators to help build your business. Recent topics have included branding and social media marketing.
Upcoming seminars TBA.
